St. Patrick's Day Parade, Drogheda
A Taste of the Fleadh at St Patrick's Festival
St. Patrick’s Day is turning in to a weekend festival for 2019 with the theme of celebrating Irish Culture
A weekend long celebration of Irish culture, music, language, song and dance is planned to turn the town into a colourful celebration of all that is good about Irish culture.
With Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann being held in Drogheda this August it is hoped that the weekend Festival will give local people and visitors a taste of the Fleadh. The Parade committee are putting a call out for local participants and organisations to get behind the parade in 2019.
Isabel Sanroma Director of the Drogheda Parade urged the local community to get behind the St. Patrick’s Festival weekend and help Drogheda Celebrate Irish Culture in the year of the Fleadh:
"Over the last few years we have seen a huge increase in the interest in Irish culture in the Drogheda area, particularly with young people, and the numbers learning traditional Irish music have soared. The St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee have enjoyed great co-operation from all sections of the community over the last 30 plus years and we are urging community groups, schools, musicians and artists, retailers, publicans and citizens to become engaged with the festival and the exciting year ahead culturally for Drogheda.”
Parade will start at 12.00 noon sharp.
