Although it has been officially summer for a few weeks, the season really only starts now that the exams are over and the Primary Schools close for July and August.

As everyone heads into an eight-week holiday, anxious parents are looking at a lot of blank dates on their calendars.

Feile Brian Boru

Féile Brian Ború is an annual festival held in the twin towns of Killaloe, Co. Clare & Ballina, Co. Tipperary (divided only by the River Shannon) with a fun-filled programme of events including a stunning fireworks display over the river on Saturday night.

SeaFest

A national maritime festival being held in Galway this weekend with fun family events on everything from cooking seafood to science and cultural history to deep sea exploration and much more!

Promenade Festival

There will be some classic seaside fun in Tramore this weekend with music, entertainment, street theatre, food, crafts, displays, children’s workshops and kite flying.

Irish-American Festival

The festival returns for the fifth year to New Ross with loads of free family activities and music mainly in Pearse Park throughout the weekend. There will also be a fun Picnic in the Park on Sunday 2nd July 2017 from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.

Irish Derby Kildare Festival

This year's festival continues over the weekend and the big race is on Saturday, July 1st. There will be live music in Market Square on Saturday and Sunday evening with some great local acts and a performance by the popular Abbaesque.

Farmleigh Family Comedy Weekend

Family comedy festival in the Phoenix Park on Saturday & Sunday including stand-up comedy, comedy workshops, street performers, top joke competition, silly storytelling and big board games. No tickets are required but the popular workshops are first come, first served.

Wexford Maritime Festival

Free family fun festival with water fun featuring helicopters and lifeboats, children's activities, local food and live music on Wexford Quay on Saturday and Sunday.

School's Out For Summer

Free end of year party hosted by Project24 on Queen's Parade in Bangor this Saturday afternoon. There will be a BBQ, Petting Farm, Bouncy Castle, Face Painter, Carousel, DJ, Games, Arts & Crafts, Performance & much more.

Ballymaloe Malt & Music Weekend

The first-ever Ballymaloe Malt & Music Weekend will showcase an impressive line-up of Irish bands and artisan brewers, as well as offering the usual high standard of delicious food, all under the generous cover of the relaxed and rustic Big Shed on the Ballymaloe Farm.

Feile Traidphicnic

Spiddal, Co. Galway comes alive this weekend with an annual celebration of Irish music, art and culture. As well as lots of music there are loads of fun events and workshops for the whole family to enjoy.

SkyPark

Skypark is Irelands Biggest Aerial Adventure Park, with high ropes, zip lines, base jumps and tonnes of aerial adventures.  They also have  land based  activities for the whole family including footgolf,  aeroball ,  frisbeegolf  and archery. Wild Air Run

This weekend the Wild Air Run moves to Kilkenny following a successful mini course at Flavours of Fingal last weekend. Featuring some exciting and challenging inflatable obstacles, this is a 5km fun run like no other.

Knights and Princesses Party

Summer holidays are in and they intend to celebrate at a Knights and Princesses Party at Wells House and Gardens!

It's the perfect excuse for princess dresses and knightly attire as you join their resident Knight & Princess and dance the day away at a children's disco while enjoying the perfect summer BBQ! There will also be a competition for the best dressed Knight& Princess so get those frocks ready and shine that armour.

West Cork Chamber Music Festival

A varied programme that includes concerts, talks and workshops from Friday, 30th June to Sunday, 8th July. There will also be Fringe Festival to bring this world class music for free out into the community for non-festival goers to experience and enjoy. 

Clontarf Half Marathon/5 Mile

A picturesque run along Clontarf and Bull Island overlooking Dublin Bay, this event attracted 3,000 runners of all abilities last year. The flat course is perfect for runners to try for a personal best time with everyone getting medals and treats at the finish line. 

Donegal Town Festival

There is a great line-up of music and family fun as Donegal Town celebrates the start of the summer holidays. There will be Live Music in the Diamond every night as well as a family fun day this Saturday and Tractor Races on Sunday.

Strawberry Festival

A day out at the Castle Grove Country House in Letterkenny this Saturday filled with Fun, Music and Strawberries.

Castle Grove’s Summer Strawberry Festival as part of the Donegal Food Coast initiative will include a tour of the Walled Garden, Music, cookery demonstrations, cocktail demonstrations with food and beverages available for purchase, and BBQ weather permitting.

Meet the Vikings!

This Sunday from 2.15pm - 4.30pm in the National Museum, Country Life in Mayo, go along and meet Ragnar Olafson (Iain Barber), one of Ireland’s last Vikings.

You can visit his camp and discover the history of the Vikings in Ireland, through his extensive collection of replica objects. Hear about the greatest battle in Viking era Ireland, the Battle of Clontarf with the aid of a dynamic model of the battlefield. A fun and entertaining afternoon for all the family. Longford County Show

One of the oldest agricultural shows in Ireland, it is in its 115th year. A family day out, which includes a large children's section full of entertainment for all ages.

National Sand Festival

The 15th Annual National Sand Championships takes place this weekend in Bettystown.  Anyone can take part by making your own castle or sculpture or simply watch the artists and builders at work!
