7 things to do on August Bank Holiday Sunday

It's a long weekend and that can only mean one thing...Super Sunday.

No, I'm not talking about sport - although that's what some Daddys from Galway and Tipperary will have planned for the day!

It means no work or school on Monday so you can head out and enjoy Sunday without worrying about heading home early.

Here are some suggestions:

1) Durrow Scarecrow Festival

The winners are announced on Sunday afternoon in the Scarecrow village at 4pm after another day of fun family activities.

2) Maiden of the Mourne International Festival

The Northern 'Rose of Tralee' festival kicks off on Sunday with an Old Fair Day with animals, stalls, demos, music and much more in Warrenpoint Square.

3) Spraoi, Waterford

The 25th Annual Waterford Spraoi is on this weekend and the highlight every year is the annual night parade and fireworks display.  The parade will begin at Johnstown Industrial Estate at 9.30pm on Sunday night and progress via Johns Street, Michael Street, Broad Street, John Roberts Square and Barronstrand Street to its finish on the Quay.

4) Kilgarvan Agricultural Show

The 33rd Kilgarvan Show, held in the picturesque surroundings of Kilgarvan and the Roughty Valley on Sunday, will be one of the largest agricultural shows in the Munster this year and with a variety of events and competitions for all ages.

5) Mary From Dungloe International Festival

The event reaches its conclusion this evening as Daniel O Donnell crowns the 2017 Mary From Dungloe and there will be a spectacular fireworks display at 12:30 am! It's worth staying awake for.

6) Loughree Monster Festival

The Monster returns to the depths of Lough on Sunday evening with a Fireworks display and some live, and loud, music from IE/DC

7) Beatyard

The festival in Dun Laoighre continues on Sunday with lots of kids activities too including Imaginosity, Dublin Children's Museum, Codo Dojo and Legoyard.
